How it is worked out
- 1Eligible students get a £5,000 training grant for each year of their course, which does not need to be paid back.
- 2Students with a child under 15 can get £2,000 a year in parental support.
- 3Courses that are hard to recruit to, such as mental health and learning disability nursing, get an extra £1,000 a year.
- 4Part-time students get a share in line with their study pattern.
Worth knowing
- This is on top of student loans from Student Finance England.
- Travel and accommodation costs for placements, and the Exceptional Support Fund, are claimed separately.
Common questions
Do I have to pay back the Learning Support Fund?+
No. The training grant, parental support and specialist subject payment are grants, not loans.
