How it is worked out
- 1We start from the full-time salary for your band and pay point, then scale it to your weekly hours.
- 2Your NHS Pension contribution comes off first. It is taken before income tax, so it lowers your tax bill.
- 3Income tax and National Insurance are then worked out on the standard tax code, followed by any student loan repayment.
Worth knowing
- Unsocial hours, overtime and London weighting are not included here. They each have their own calculator.
- If your tax code is not 1257L, your real figure will differ.
