How it is worked out
- 1With 12 months of continuous NHS service by the 11th week before your due date, you qualify for NHS occupational maternity pay.
- 2That gives 8 weeks on full pay, then 18 weeks on half pay plus Statutory Maternity Pay, then 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity Pay alone.
- 3Without that service, you may still get Statutory Maternity Pay for 39 weeks if you earn above the lower earnings limit.
Worth knowing
- To keep the half-pay part of NHS maternity pay, you need to return to NHS work for at least three months afterwards.
- All figures are before tax and other deductions.
