Total leave this year
262.5 hrs
35 full-time days
- Annual leave (27 days full time)
- 202.5 hrs
- Public holidays (8 days full time)
- 60 hrs
- Total
- 262.5 hrs
If you work on a public holiday, or your days off do not line up with them, your employer adjusts your leave so you get the same total.
How it is worked out
- 1Full-time staff get 27 days a year, rising to 29 days after five years of NHS service and 33 days after ten.
- 2On top of that come 8 public holidays.
- 3Leave is held in hours. A full day counts as 7.5 hours, and part-time staff get a share in line with their weekly hours.
Worth knowing
- If you join or leave part way through the leave year, your entitlement is reduced to match the months you work.
- Some employers count previous NHS or relevant non-NHS service towards the higher entitlements. Check with HR.
